It's really happening! Yes, those are fuel injectors on a 455.
Pulled the engine from my brother's old car last weekend. Still have a long way to go on my car but it's all starting to come together. Trunk floor needs some cancer removal, gas tank and new in tank pump needs installing. Trying to decide if we should open up this motor to see why the rings let so much oil past (no compression issues though) before we put it in or just run it knowing it burns some oil...
Mallory distributor allows clean setup to let the computer control the timing. Had a lot of trouble making it hold steady mechanically on the OEM HEI style distributor.
Everybody needs powdercoated aluminum valve covers, don't they?
Here's the best part you can see from the outside -
See that extra plate between the block and oil pan? That's a girdle, a steel web that goes around the edge of the block and across all the main caps. Prevents you from blowing the crank out the bottom of the motor.
Knock sensor - maybe this time we'll hook it up. Never got it working while it was in his car.
The car it's going in? This one - (my "Bad B")

That is indeed one Big Bad Buick. I love 455s be they Pontiac, Oldmobile or Buick.

Thanks! The power from this motor is nuts. The stock-ish carb'd 455 I have in there now makes enough power to keep me happy. This thing is bonkers (and gets better gas milage)!

not doing a full rebuild????

shouldn't be necessary. It was built up a few years back w lots of custom parts. Other than consuming more than normal amounts of oil, it is ready for anything. Custom lightweight rods, special pistons with valve reliefs and lowered rings ti handle the nitrous, probably got 25K on it plus a few dozen 1/4 passes.

Kickass :) I absolutely love the car it's going into as well. Such a cool combo of big brown land barge and monster big block.
What sort of power do you think it'll make?

You can still see the red - it's not that dirty! When these are original you usually can't see any block paint at all. The motor is a 1970.
